Car cleaning can be a bit of a chore, but there’s nothing more satisfying then driving a clean car that you are proud to be seen in. The lazy way to clean your car is to take it to a car wash, but you simply won’t get the results that you can when doing a hand car wash at home. Save yourself some money and do a better job of washing your car by following these car cleaning tips.

How to achieve a sparking exterior

The best car washing tip we can give you is to gently wipe the grime off the exterior before properly washing your car. Although this might take a little longer, it will prevent damage to your paintwork as scrubbing grains of dirt will scratch your car!

Once the dirt has been wiped off and you have replaced the dirty water, pour some car shampoo into a car wash bucket and get washing. Generally, a large sponge is suitable, however a car cleaning brush is ideal for the roof where it is hard to reach with a sponge.

To rinse the soap off properly, a power washer is ideal. By using a power washer you will be able to blast off solid dirt that has built up around the wheel arch etc.

Once the soap has been removed, dry with a soft cloth. It’s generally best to do this as quickly as possible to prevent water marks from drying on the car. It’s also advised that you wash your car in the shade or on a cooler day as it lengthens the time you have to dry your car without it naturally drying due to warmer weather.

For added shine apply car polish to a microfiber cloth and rub onto your car in circular motions. Once this step complete, go over your car with car wax until the product is spread evenly and your car is shining.

Improve the appearance of your tyres by using a car wheel cleaner and then apply tyre shine spray to the rubber.

How to get a clean car interior

Interior car cleaning is the simplest part of cleaning your car. The main task is to remove all of the rubbish from your car so that it is completely empty. Use a handheld vacuum to remove all of the crumbs and general dirt.

If you have stains on your car upholstery, give the inside a waterless car wash with stain cleaning product. Alternatively if you have a leather interior, buff the surface using leather care balm and a clean cloth.
